San Francisco, California

A 38-story, 1500-room convention hotel. The hotel includes a 150,000 sf underground ballroom complex, with a 40,000 sf Grand Ballroom. The hotel officially opened on the same day as the Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1989, without structural damage. The project was designed by an engineering firm at which the principals of Pannu Larsen McCartney, Inc. were formerly associated as principals. PLM's principals were not involved in the design of this project. This project was undertaken prior to PLM's principals' employment in the firm. It is included as being representative of the type of structures for which PLM offers design services.
